Well, it has taken me long enough my new
mock draft has arrived. This is probably going to be the final one before the
draft, so let's hope no other trades go through.

1.) San Diego Chargers- Eli
Manning QB Ole Miss

Everyone keeps saying the Chargers are
going to avoid quarterback again, but people keep forgetting this is not the
same front office who passed up on Vick and who took Leaf. Even though Eli
doesn't want to go there, he also realizes the stigma that is going to be
carried around with his name. Eli will stay with them, and become the future of
a building Chargers tea,

2.) New York Giants- Robert
Gallery OT Iowa (from Oakland)

The Raiders put the serious bluff on
the Giants making them believe the Raiders want Gallery. Coughlin believes in
building the lines first, and then plugging in around them. Roethlisberger would
be nice for them, but Coughlin still believes Kerry can lead them. The Raiders
don't feel anyone can help them at this point, so they trade down and gain some
more picks.

3.) Arizona Cardinals- Larry
Fitzgerald WR Pittsburgh

This is a real tough one. Everyone is
really over hyping Dennis Green's love for Fitzgerald. Fitz was a ball boy who
Green barely knew and cared about. The reason this pick is made, however, is
because Fitzgerald is a perfect fit for Green's offense, and is probably the
best available player at this point. Roethlisberger is an enticing pick because
of his athleticism, but Green realizes the potential of Fitzgerald.

4.) Oakland Raiders- Roy
Williams WR Texas

Al Davis is an extremely tough read
when it comes to drafting, but the athleticism and speed of Roy Williams forces
the Raiders to make this pick. This most likely won't happen because everyone
thinks it will, but if it does, Cardinal fans will be livid when Roy ends up
having a better career. He really is a freak.

5.) Pittsburgh Steelers- Ben
Roethlisberger QB Bowling Green (from Redskins)

The talk around the Steelers regards
their love for Phillip Rivers. The only reason for that is that there is a
legitimate chance of him dropping to their original spot of 11. However, Big Ben
is surely higher up on their draft board so when they see he is available at 5,
they make the bold pick. Redskins are happy to get a pick or two more in a draft
where they have only 2 draft picks.

6.) Houston
Texans- Sean Taylor S Miami (from Detroit)

Texans are in desperate need for a
young playmaker on defense, and this guy ensures they get that in their
secondary. Taylor is being compared to the Cowboys Roy Williams, so the
potential for Taylor is tremendous. Detroit is a team with a lot of needs, so
trading down and picking up some picks is good for them. They also felt Jackson
was a bit of a reach here at six.

7.) Cleveland Browns- Vince
Wilfork DT Miami

Butch Davis will probably have to go
for a Miami guy at this slot because of his slip-up regarding passing up on
Portis two years ago. Winslow would be a good pick as well, but Davis doesn't
want to deal with the attitude and wants to sure up the defense. Garcia will be
pissed off because Winslow would've been a great target, but if Davis didn't
listen to Ron Wolf, what makes you think he will listen to Garcia?

8.) Atlanta Falcons- DeAngelo
Hall CB Virginia Tech

Arguably the best cornerback in this
draft combined with the Falcons need for a playmaker on defense make this an
easy pick for new G.M. Rich McKay. Mora Jr. wants to make this a formidable
defense and this is the guy to do it. Vick, much like Garcia, really wants
Winslow Jr. but the team really can't afford to sink more money in an offensive
weapon. Hall will be a good corner, but won't be a superstar corner like most
teams expect him to be,

9.) Jacksonville Jaguars- Kellen
Winslow Jr. TE Miami

Jacksonville was dying for another
offensive weapon after they missed out on Keyshawn Johnson. Now that Mike
Williams is not in the draft, they instead to decide to pick up the best tight
end in the draft and give Leftwich one hell of a target. Jack Del Rio feels
confident enough in his taskmaster abilities to keep this loudmouth in check. If
they have another losing season, things could get ugly with this
"soldier" in their locker room.

10.) Detroit Lions- Stephen
Jackson RB Oregon St. (from Houston)

Lion fans are in shock as Matt Millen
makes an incredible reach for the Oregon St. star running back. He has the tools
to become a star in this league, but experts feel there are more quality players
on the board at this spot. Could be a pick that puts Millen's job in danger.
That is of course if Jackson doesn't deliver, which he should. Maybe not in his
first year, but second or third year he will have some sort of impact.

11.) Washington Redskins-
Kenechi Udeze DE USC (from Pittsburgh)

Injuries have forced this former top 10
pick to drop a little, but the Skins see some serious potential in this guy and
hope he can be the playmaking defensive end this team so desperately needs.
Gibbs knows talent when he sees it, and this guy has a ton of it. Will be
interested to see how this injury will pan out for the young man.

12.) San Francisco 49ers- Reggie
Williams WR Washington (from the Jets)

49ers really like this guy because of
his resemblance to Terrell Owens. San Fran's front office panics a bit thinking
the Bills might take him ahead of them, so they find a way to package a deal
with the Jets to get this pick. Bradway really liked Hall and was hoping he
could slip to 9 to package a minor deal. Nobody entices the Jets at this spot,
so they are willing to deal.

13.) Buffalo Bills- Phillip
Rivers QB NC State

This pick is contigent upon whether the
Bills sign Titans quarterback Billy Volek. If not, Donahoe and Mularkey realize
that Bledsoe is almost done with and they will need someone to take over the
reigns soon. Rivers could've been a top 10 pick, and the fact he slips to 13
makes this an early Christmas gift for the Bills organization.

14.) Chicago Bear- Tommie Harris
DT Oklahoma

Lovie Smith wants to implement a
quicker defense, so the former Bears-type DT's (big, fat men clogging the
middle) is news of the past. Harris is the ideal defensive tackle in Smith's
defense. He has tremendous quickness, and is starting to get over 300 pounds.
Will probably never be a superstar, but will be someone who can excel in the
right system. It appears the new Bears system is perfect for this young man.

15.) Tampa Bay Bucs- Will Smith
DE Ohio St.

Gruden and company are a little upset
with who is available at this pick. They like Randy Starks, but aren't sure if
he is the best pick at 15. Will Smith was supposed to be a top 10 pick last
year, but didn't have a great year. The Bucs see the potential in this young man
and make the pick. Smith could become better than Udeze but only time will tell.

16.) New York Jets- Dunta
Robinson CB South Carolina (from San Francisco)

Bradway is known for picking up raw
talent, and hoping the coaching staff can develop them. Robinson has a ton of
raw talent, with a lot of emphasis on raw. Robinson will not do too much his
first year, but the Jets organization hope new defensive coordinator Donnie
Henderson will be able to mold this young man into the next Chris McAllister.
The kid has the potential to become a great shutdown corner, but potential is
the key word here.

17.) Denver Broncos- Lee Evans
WR Wisconsin (from Cincinnati)

The Broncos are in shock Jackson got
picked that high, and really don't want to reach on Troupe at this point. Evans
is ranked as high as the third best WR in this draft on some draft boards. With
McCafferey retiring, Shanahan wouldn't mind getting a weapon to replace him on
offense. Evans has the speed to become an instant force, but might never excel
as a superstar. If implemented right, the Broncos could end up with a very
dangerous WR.

18.) New Orleans Saints- Chris
Gamble CB Ohio St.

The Saints are known as not being a
team that drafts particularly well, and this kind of pick justifies the argument
they don't know what they are doing come the end up April. They need a playmaker
in the secondary, and while Gamble has that potential, he also has a greater
potential of being a bust. Because he is an Ohio St. guy he has been hyped up a
lot, but after watching tape and such, Gamble has been shot down a bit.

19.) Minnesota Vikings- D.J.
Williams LB Miami

On other mocks I had the Vikings taking
Vilma, but when thought about a little deeper....Williams has a lot more raw
talent. Defensive Coordinator Ted Cotrell likes his athleticism and makes a
convincing argument for the playmaking linebacker from the U. They could regret
passing up on Vilma, but so will all the other teams that do as well.

20.) Miami Dolphins- Vernon
Carey OG Miami

Offensive line is a big issue for this
Fins team, and Carey is the best guard in this years draft. He can also play
tackle, so this guy is a relatively easy pick for a team that is known for
drafting directly for need. Carey will never be a very good guard for years to
come, and could become the man that opens holes for Ricky Williams for Years to
come.

21.) New England Patriots-
Marcus Tubbs DT Texas

Patriot fans are upset for the first
time in a while because they don't see what Pioli and Belichik see in this young
man. Tubbs has the talent to be a real good specialty defensive tackle, coming
in in certain spots during games. Has the potential to become a Ted Washington
kind of guy with some good size already. Pats fans worries will soon go away
when Tubbs wreaks some havoc his rookie year.

22.) Dallas Cowboys-Shawn
Andrews OT Arkansas

Cowboy fans are dying for Paul
Tagliabue to say the name Kevin Jones, but Parcells doesn't like the way this
young man fumbles. Tuna is known for picking up guys who hold on to the ball,
and Jones' main flaw is his tendency to drop it. Cowboy organization see the
potential in this large man, and Parcells feels he can whip him into the shape
he needs to be in to become a star.

23.) Seattle Seahawks- Jon Vilma
LB Miami

Seahawks are shocked that this young
man dropped down so far. Seahawks were expecting to pick a defensive tackle this
high, but with Vilma available and linebacker being a need as well, this becomes
a relatively easy pick for the Seahawks. Vilma could make a very nice impact
with this revamped Seahawks defense.

24.) Cincinnati Bengals - Randy
Starks DT Maryland

Bengals really like what they see in
this guy and are frankly shocked to see him drop this low. Defensive tackle is a
big need for the Bengals, and after missing out on Sapp, this becomes the pick.
Some boards have him ranked as the #2 defensive tackle in the draft, so Marvin
Lewis has no problem implementing this young man in his system.

25.) Green Bay Packers- Marquise
Hill DE LSU

The Packers are looking for some help
on the line, and this is the biggest defensive end in the draft. With the other
defensive end whose name is too tedious to type's quickness, Hill makes for a
nice complement. Hill, will be a good run-stopper and a great pass deflector.
Packers are upset Starks got taken one pick ahead, but will soon be happy with
Hills' performance.

26.) St. Louis Rams- Ben Troupe
TE Florida

Troupe would be the top tight end in
the draft easily if it weren't for Winslow. Troupe is more of a receiver, but
Martz sees the plethora of things he can do with the offense with a tight end
like Troupe. The tight end formations, splitting Troupe wide formations, etc.
make for an even more dangerous Rams offense. Martz wants to prove to the world
that offense can win championships, and this is going to help him make that
argument.

27.) Tennessee Titans- Antwan
Odom DE Alabama

One of the more underrated defensive
ends in the draft, and this is definitely a need for the Titans. Even though
this is an organization know to not draft need, he is still the best available
player in their minds. With a rookie friendly Titans system, Odom could end up
having the best season for a defensive end this year.

28.) Philadelphia Eagles- Kevin
Jones RB Virginia Tech

Kevin Jones drops big time because of
his fumbling problems, but the Eagles see the playmaking potential in this young
man and think they have found their everyday running back. WR could be a nice
pick here as well, but they are dumping a lot of money on T.O., so running back
has to be the pick.

29.) Indianapolis Colts- Will
Poole CB USC

Arguably the next best cornerback
available at this point, and Dungy hopes he can turn this man into a star
cornerback. Poole is said to have a bit of an attitude, but when he is with the
right coach he can excel. Pete Carrol has a very similar, mellow demeanor like
Tony Dungy, so this could be a very good environment for a cornerback with a
tremendous amount of potential.

30.) Kansas City Chiefs- Jake
Grove C Virginia Tech

Vermeil loves to build great offensive
lines, and Grove is going to be a tremendous center in his career. Vermeil sees
this in him, and has the defensive-minded Chief fans up in arms over this pick.
Grove will probably be moved around in his first year, but will be an anchor for
the Chiefs O-Line in future years.

31.) Carolina Panthers- Rashaun
Woods WR Oklahoma St.

Panthers feel they could use another
weapon on offense, and that is precisely what Rashaun Woods is. A lot of experts
feel this young man is tremendously underrated, so the Panthers say screw it and
let's take him. Woods helps make a very formidable offense even better. Smith
and Woods is going to be a duo that will be talked about for years to come.

32.) New England Patriots- Derrick
Strait CB Oklahoma

Strait is a cornerback who works really
well in systems, like the system under Stoops, so the Patriots feel he can work
well in their system as well. He is very coachable and has the potential to be a
shutdown corner. With Law probably not being with the Pats in 2005, and maybe
2004, Strait becomes the man to take over.

Well here is my first
real, sports related blog. Since I am starting to really get into the draft, I
figured I would do a nice little mock draft. Now let me just make something
clear: I am not an expert, nor do I claim to be. The NFL draft is one of the
hardest things to predict, but I am going to give it a shot. If you find any
faults, you can e-mail me at djspeclalk@aol.com.
If you have a gripe, make sure you bring the wood! Also, I have many trade-ups
and downs, but I have not included how the picks were acquired. The reason is
simple: When teams want a pick badly, they find ways out of my realm of
knowledge to make it happen. So if your team traded up according to me, think
about your front office and what is the likelihood of them overpaying; for that
is where your answer shall lie. Remember: Anything with an exclamation point is
something that isn’t set in stone, but pure speculation. You could say the
same for every pick, but that is pretty obvious.

1)
WR-
Larry
Fitzgerald- University of Pittsburgh

Arizona
Cardinals (from San Diego Chargers)*

Dennis
Green has been closer to Larry Fitzgerald than any of the other coaches involved in
the draft. Fitzgerald was a ball boy for the team when Randy Moss and Chris
Carter were around, and they were a big part of Fitzgerald's success at Pitt.
Green wants to bring the three WR offense he used at Minnesota over to Arizona.
Although quarterback is a big need for this organization, none of the
quarterbacks jump out at Green this high, and instead picks the player that will
help his offense the best. The
Chargers are not sold on Fitzgerald, and also are still scared to pick a
quarterback this high. They trade down to the third spot and since their team
has a lot of needs, they will see what falls to them.

2) OT-Robert Gallery- University
of Iowa

New York Giants (from
Oakland Raiders)*

Some Giant
fans will call this a panic move trading up two spots to get the best player in
the draft. But Big Blue fans have faith; Coughlin knows the deal. When building
the Jaguars, Coughlin went for a young man named Tony Bosselli. Within a few
years, this team was in the AFC Championship game. Gallery is the cornerstone to
get this organization back on the right track, and could even help make this
Giant team somewhat formidable. Al Davis played the nice bluff, and made the
Giants think he wanted Gallery as well. All in all it is a good move for both
teams, because Davis is looking for the impact player who will propel his team
to the top instantly.

3) WR- Mike Williams- USC

San Diego Chargers (Arizona
Cardinals)*

Can anybody
say Keyshawn Johnson? The similarities between Mike Williams and Keyshawn
Johnson are pretty incredible. The only difference is that Keyshawn actually ran
a 4.4 at one point, and Williams is supposedly going to be stuck at 4.7. Now,
don’t get me wrong, this guy will be a very good possession WR in his career.
However, he will never be the game breaker that Roy Williams could be. The
Chargers do get a WR who will play well in the West Coast offense, and also will
be close to home. Schottenheimer needs to get a guy who can help him win now,
and Williams could contribute right now…but won’t become the star of the
future.

4) DE- Kenechi Udeze –USC

Oakland Raiders(from New
York Giants)*

Al Davis
was utterly disgusted by the products brought forth by the defense last year. As
usual, Davis shocks the Raider nation by trying to sure up the defensive line.
Is it a bit of a reach pick? Well, yea. But the Raiders could use a stud
defensive end alongside Sapp and Washington, and this is the only rookie end who
could end up having an impact first year. Al Davis has seen what Suggs, Peppers,
and even Kearse could do their first years…Davis is hoping for the same from
Udeze.

5) QB- Eli Manning- Ole
Miss

Pittsburgh Steelers (from
Washington Redskins)*

Joe Gibbs
is pretty much in shock over the Raiders pick, and now has to look at plan B. As
enticing as Kellen Winslow is, it is still pretty high for a tight end. The
Steelers are elated that Manning has dropped this much, and make a deal with the
Redskins to trade up. The Steelers have been too good for a while to pick up the
best quarterback in the draft, and with Manning dropping to five and them only
needing to move up six spots, this is a no-brainer for Pittsburgh. The Redskins
have virtually no other picks, so now they gain the picks to give this team some
depth.

6) S- Sean Taylor- Miami

Detroit Lions

The Lions
really wanted to continue the trend and trade down, but too many teams Taylor
could be a problem as a result of his current workouts. The Lions say hell with
it, we are going to take the best safety in the draft and will be glad they did
once the season starts. The Lions will gain the big playmaker they need on
Defense, and will soon have to be considered some sort of contender.

7) DT- Vince Wilfork- Miami

Cleveland Browns

Everyone is
expecting Butch Davis to go for his Miami guys this year, but it isn’t Winslow
as expected. Instead it is the freak defensive tackle Vince Wilfork. Wilfork
will play a great role in a depleted Cleveland defense, and with the resurgence
of Courtney Brown, could make a pretty formidable defensive line. Davis passed
up on Portis and has regretted it ever since…that is the last time he passes
up on his alma mater boys.

8) DT- Tommie Harris- Oklahoma

Atlanta Falcons

Let me make
this clear: Harris will be the bust of this draft is picked this high! I am
sorry, you cannot select a defensive tackle who is under 290 in the top 10. Will
Harris be a good defensive tackle? Yes; he would be a solid late first round, 2^nd
round pick. But Jim Mora Jr. will make his first mistake in his Atlanta tenure
by picking up Tommie Harris. The Falcons need defense, and as nice as it would
be to pick up Roy Williams, they need to start sinking money in the defense, and
this will be a big mistake for the Falcosn.

9) WR- Roy Williams- Texas

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars
have been looking for a WR this whole off-season, but couldn’t land another
target for Leftwich. They couldn’t land Keyshawn, but instead draft a WR who
was the top rated WR at one time. In fact, he might have been a top 5 pick last
year if he entered the draft. Now, he is rated behind Fitzgerald and Mike
Williams. But don’t let the rankings fool you: Roy will become a great WR with
the Jaguars. They have the weapons to become a force, and Roy just helps to make
this a top offense. Now they need a young running back who can stay healthy.

10) CB- Chris Gamble- Ohio
St.

Houston Texans

This is a
very questionable pick for a Texan organization that is usually known for being
a solid team when it comes draft day. They have addressed a few needs on
defense, and were really looking to place Wilfork along with this defense, but
got blindsided by the Browns pick-up of him. The Texans corners are not getting
any younger, and the Texan organization feels Gamble could be the biggest
playmaker at the corner position. Is he? Well, in my opinion no, but only time
will tell. The Texans could regret not taking DeAngelo Hall if they go for
Gamble/

11) TE- Kellen Winslow- Miami

Washington Redskins(from
Pittsburgh Steelers)*

Joe Gibbs
managed to outsmart everyone in this draft. The guy the Redskins really wanted
was Udezi, but he got snatched up one pick earlier. So they figured let’s
trade down and see what happens. Well, what seemed to happen is their #2 need,
TE, has managed to make an appearance in the form of Kellen Winslow, the best TE
in the draft. Even though Gibbs is there, Washington still has a win now
philosophy along with it, and Winslow fits in perfectly. In addition, Gibbs has
some more picks to work with now.

12) CB- DeAngelo Hall- Virginia
Tech

Philadelphia Eagles(from New York Jets)*

Terry
Bradway is known as being a G.M. who picks up the best available player. Well,
him and the Jet organization were not satisfied with anyone at this slot, and
the Eagles called up dying to replace Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor. They see
the potential in Hall, and hope he could fill in rather quickly. Bradway sees
this as a way to get a 2^ND rounder that they gave to the Titans, and
also hope one of the players they coveted for this spot drops down to them at
number 28.

13) QB- Ben Roethlisberger- Bowling Green

Buffalo Bills

One of the
big surprises in this draft, is the way that Roethlisberger has dropped. It
appears none of the teams at the top wanted to address their quarterback issues,
and instead opting to fix other needs. Well, Bills G.M. Tom Donahoe sees how
this team could use a quarterback to replace Bledsoe in the near future. He is a
strong believer in best available player, and this man is at this spot. All
watch to see if they sign Titans quarterback Billy Volek, because this pick
would then be used for Reggie Williams in my opinion. There are not lineman that
Mularchy and Donahoe like at this point, so Williams would help their offense
best at this spot.

14) LB- Jonathan
Vilma- Miami

Chicago Bears

The Bears
continue to keep losing linebackers. Last season they lost Roosevelt Colvin, and
they cut Warrick Holdman this year. Even though DT Randy Starks is tempting,
Vilma would be a great compliment to Urlacher, and would put this Bear’s
defense in the right direction. If the Bears want to ever win this NFC Central,
they need defense and making their linebacking core one of the best in the
league would help.

15) OT- Shawn Andrews- Arkansas

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After
Gallery, Andrews is the best rated tackle on the board. The knock on him is that
he is a bit overweight, and lazy. However, Gruden would definitely get this
young man in pretty good shape, and since the Bucs O-Line hasn’t really been
impressive to say the least, Andrews would be a nice addition. Also, line coach
Bill Muir is one of the best and toughest O-Line coaches in the league, so this
guy would really fit well with this staff.

16) WR- Reggie Williams- Washington

San Francisco 49ers

Every
football fan knows the 49ers lost Owens and Streets. Now with Brandon Lloyd, the
49ers will be able to replace those guys pretty quickly. Williams draws a lot of
comparisons to T.O. He supposedly has everything T.O…except the attitude. The
49ers are starting fresh, and they usually focus on the offense first, and then
defense. Reggie Williams is too good of a WR to pass up, especially when it is a
need now.

17) DT- Randy Starks- Maryland

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengal
fans are still a bit upset after losing out on Warren Sapp. So what do they do
instead? Pick up the Maryland stand-out DT who had a very good combine. The guy
is a good pass rusher, and would put Bengal fans a little bit at ease after
losing Sapp. They could also go linebacker at this spot, but Lewis has a good
eye for defensive talent, and he can’t deny the potential of Starks at 17.

18) CB- Dunta Robinson- South
Carolina

New Orleans Saints

The glaring
need on this Saints team is cornerback. They passed up on Trufant last draft,
and Haslett has dealt with a lot of criticism. With his job on the line, he
won’t make the same mistake twice. And with Robinson, he is getting the
cornerback with the most potential. He probably won’t be able to start right
away, but does have the most talent of the corners. He just needs some good
coaching to learn proper techniques.

19) LB- D.J. Williams- Miami

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings
have been pretty active this off-season with regards to the secondary. Now,
after the success of Jimmy Williams on the line, the Vikings only need is
linebacker. They need a big time playmaker, and with the most athletic Miami
linebacker available in D.J., the Vikings would be crazy to miss their pick this
time. Williams is bigger, stronger and faster than Vilma. The only question is
if he can tackle and read plays as well as Vilma…the Vikings will be banking
on yes.

20) RB- Stephen Jackson- Oregon
St.

Dallas Cowboys (from
Miami Dolphins)*

The biggest
need for the Cowboys is running back, as Troy Hambrick is not the answer there.
Parcells could push for a linemen like Carey, but Jackson seems to be the best
running back in this draft, and the big Tuna wouldn’t want to lose him out to
his former protégé. Parcells loves the strong backs, and Jackson is strong
with speed. Could be a star running back for Dallas for a longtime.

21) RB- Kevin Jones- Virginia Tech

New England Patriots

Although
Jackson was the back Belichik wanted, he still gets a very good running back in
Kevin Jones. This is one of the few needs on this Patriots team, and Jones is
the second best choice for New England. He’s proven he can play in northern
weather, but needs to hold the ball a bit more. One training camp with Belichick
will help that out.

22) OG- Vernon Carey- Miami

Miami Dolphins

This is a
bit of a reach pick, but the Dolphins feel this could be their guard of the
future. They have had a great opportunity to scout him considering he is in
Miami, and is quite a versatile player. He can play G or T, and that is exactly
what the Dolphins need. They have kept their defense relatively in tact, and got
the WR they wanted. Rivers could be an option, but with the addition of Feely, I
doubt they go QB when their O-Line needs a lot of help.

23) DT- Igor Olshansky- Oregon

Seattle Seahawks

The
Seahawks have been revamping their defense, and a defensive tackle would be a
nice addition. The Seahawks are pretty familiar with what Igor could do,
consider the close distance between Oregon and Seattle. Igor is a freak when it
comes to workouts and such, and could be an interesting risk for Seattle. They
have already added Grant Wistrom, so these two guys next to eachother would be
pretty interesting.

24) TE- Ben Troupe- Florida

Denver Broncos

The Broncos
defense had a bit of trouble last season. So what do they do? Add John Lynch and
Champ Bailey. With the signing of Garrison Hearst, you could rule out running
back at this pick. Sharpe is on the verge of retiring, and Troupe has impressed
people beyond belief. In fact, if Winslow wasn’t a freak at his position, the
only tight end football fans would be talking about is Troupe. Troupe will be
Sharpe’s replacement, and will help keep this Denver offense propelling.

25) QB- Phillip Rivers- N.C.
State

Green Bay Packers

Rivers was
supposed to be the top quarterback this year, but Manning and Roethlisberger
took that spot over him. The Packers were rumored to be looking at quarterbacks
last draft, but didn’t fall in love with any of them. Rivers has the accuracy
that Ron Wolf will definitely love to replace Favre if and when he retires.
Green Bay could go defense, but they have been one of the top franchises because
of a quarterback, so they will want to continue that with another one.

26) WR- Lee Evans- Wisconsin

St. Louis Rams

Mark Martz
is one of the more arrogant coaches in the league, and will push for Evans to
help make a strong offense, even stronger. Martz wants to prove to the world
that offense can win championships. Evans is a typical Rams WR by running a 4.31
40. Injuries could be an issue, but Martz trusts that this young man will help
put the Rams in the Super Bowl. Bad pick, if he goes this route, especially with
Will Smith from Ohio St. available in this mock.

27) DE- Will Smith- Ohio
St.

Tennessee Titans

With the
Rams naively passing up a need, the Titans quickly try to replace Jevon Kearse
by picking up the best available DE in Will Smith. The Titans know how to draft,
and they see the talent of Smith in this spot. Smith could arguably go top 15,
even top 10. To get him at 27 is a steal, and teams looking for a DE who passed
on this man will regret passing him; much like when the Titans picked up Kearse
a few years back.

28) CB/S- Matt Ware- UCLA

New York Jets (from Philadelphia Eagles)*

The Jets
traded down and now have a lot of options regarding this pick. Even though a
linebacker is tempting, Matt Ware is the guy because of his versatility. He has
the size of a safety, but the speed of a corner. The Jets aren’t looking for
any starters from the draft (except at guard) so Ware would be a great guy to
groom for the future, being they will need a corner to replace Donnie Abraham
one day, and the same goes for Reggie Tongue.

29) CB- Will Poole- USC

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts
are still looking for a cornerback, and Will Poole is arguably the best one
available. A bit of an attitude, but Dungy knows how to get guys to trust me,
much like Pete Carroll does at USC. He has a lot of athleticism, and a lot of
potential as well. He will help improve a weak Colts offense, so this has to be
the pick.

30) DE- Antwan Odom- Alabama

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs
better have learned their lesson picking up Larry Johnson last year instead of
improving a weak defense. Well, now Gunther Cunnigham won’t let Vermeil pass
up on defense, and that is why the underrated Alabama defensive end needs to be
the pick. He has a lot of potential and could become the best defensive end the
in the draft. He has been overshadowed a lot, but also needs to improve his
speed.

31) WR- Rashaun Woods- Oklahoma
St.

Carolina Panthers

The
Panthers could very well go corner and really make their secondary strong.
However, with Mushin Muhammed getting older, Rashaun Woods could be the steal of
the draft when it comes to WR’s. He showed a lot during their Bowl game
against Ole Miss, and runs a sub 4.5 40 with good size. Woods would help propel
this Carolina offense who seemed to lack a little consistency. He would give
them a very dangerous receiving core.

32) CB- Derrick Strait- Oklahoma

New England Patriots

With their
2^nd pick in the 1^st round, the Patriots prepare for the
departure of Ty Law. Strait is a very good cornerback who works well in a
system, like Stoops system. Well, the Patriots work a pretty good system as
well. Strait will become a solid nickelback if Law stays, and will probably
start in his 2^nd year. New England will once again prove they are
light years ahead of everyone, even the rival Jets who could regret passing him
up if he does well in New England.

I am a fan of the New York Jets, New York Mets, New York Knicks, New York Islanders, and Texas Longhorns. With that in mind, please understand where I come from when I totally bitter up a usually friendly event.
